Introduction to 3d geometric figures:

Shape is all the geometrical information that remains when location, scale and rotational effects are filtered out from an object. (Source: Wikipedia). The 3d geometric figures is said to be a solid shape. The 3d shape has length, breadth, and height. In this article we see about 3d geometric figures. The names and figures of the 3d geometric are given below.

Names of 3d Geometric Figures

  • Cuboid
  • Cone
  • Cube
  • Prism
  • Triangular prism
  • Cylinder
  • Hexagonal prism
  • Sphere
  • Pyramid
  • Octahedron
  • Tetrahedron
  • Dodecahedron

These are the common 3d geometric figures.

Properties of 3d Geometric Figures

3d geometric figures are gibven below.

3d geometric figures

Prism:

It has two the same ends. All sides of the prism are flat. The solid prism is also said to be polyhedron.

The prisms are,

  • Rectangular prism
  • Triangular prism
  • Hexagonal prism

Triangular prism:

A triangular prism has nine edges, six corners, and five faces.

Planes of symmetry:

It contains four triangle equilateral triangles, one scalene triangle, and it have two isosceles triangle.

Rectangular prism:

Rectangular prism contains the same cross section. And it also has six faces.

Cuboid:

The shape of the cuboid is look like box. All faces of the cuboid will be ectangle. There are six flat sides in the cuboid. All sides of the cuboid will be right angle.

Cube:

The figure cube contains 6 faces and the cube have 12 edges and 8 corners.

Hexagonal prism:

It has a hexagonal cross section.

The figure hexagonal has 8 faces. it contains 18 edges and 12 corners.

Cylinder:

In cylinder there is no appropriate faces, edges and corners. it is based on its size.

Cone:

The figure has a base. the base of the cone is flat. it is 3d geometric figure.

Tetrahedron:

It is composed of an equilateral triangle. It has four face, four corners, and six edges.

Octahedron:

It is composed of an equilateral triangle. It contains 12 edges, 6 corners, and 8 faces.

Dodecahedron:

It is a regular pentagon. It contains 30 edges, 20 corners, and 12 faces.
