Fun With Numbers .....

1 X 8 + 1 = 9

12 X 8 + 2 = 98

123 X 8 + 3 = 987

1234 X 8 + 4 = 9876

12345 X 8 + 5 = 98765

123456 X 8 + 6 = 987654

1234567 X 8 + 7 = 9876543

12345678 X 8 + 8 = 9876542

123456789 X 8 + 9 = 987654321

Do you know ...

1)Write down the following 8 digit number on a piece of paper:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9

now select any number say 'x' & multiply it with 9 so that the result is 9*x

now multiply 12345679 (the number above) with '9*x' .... see the result ....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2)Take any three digit number in which the first and last number differ by more than one i.e. 335 would be O.K. but not 333, or 332.

Reverse this number

Subtract the smaller number from the larger.

Add this answer to the same number reversed and the answer is ALWAYS 1089.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3)Get a friend to throw a dice three times and you will be able to tell them which numbers came up and in which order.

This is what they have to do -

* Throw dice
* Multiply number by 2
* Add 5
* Multiply by 5 (Remember this total)
* Throw dice second time
* Add this second number to the previous total.
* Multiply by 10 (Remember total)
* Throw the dice for the third time and add the number to the last total.

Ask for the final total. Subtract 250 and you will be left with three figures. These figures represent the numbers thrown and the in which they appeared.

4)If you multiply the number 142,857 by anything between 1 and 6 the answer contains the same digits.

Prove that 2=1

The Sillyyyy Solution ....

Let x,y be two variables and let x = y

multiplying both sides by x we get

x^2 = xy

now, subtracting both sides by y^2 we get

x^2 - y^2 = xy - y^2

=> (x + y)(x - y) = y(x - y)

=> (x + y) = y

now since x = y (assumed above) we get

=> (x + x) = x

=> 2x = x

=> 2 = 1

Hence proved ..........
